Delivering the family learning projects
The core aim of our family learning project is to use the family unit as a base for learning and enhance the links between home, school and the wider community.
We understand however, that different schools and LEAs want to achieve different things from our family learning projects. To ensure that we can provide a solution for all needs our design and technology based projects have three strands:
Working in the classroom
In order to raise the profile of our family learning workshops we can work with children in the classroom. This can involve demonstrations or interactive sessions.
Study support
The second way we work with schools and LEAs is by running an after school study support programme. This is designed to encourage parents to become more involved in their children’s learning at school and at home and aims to develop skills and confidence among children and parents alike.
Family learning days
Finally we can host family learning days where the whole family joins in with our design and technology workshops. Developed to provide learning opportunities for both adults and children, the workshops are a careful balance between challenge and success, between adult input and children’s creativity.
