FAQ’s

Is there a minimum investment amount?

No, we look after some clients’ life savings of £10,000 and part of other clients’ portfolios in excess of £1million. The importance is managing what we can provide the most value on.

The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up.  You may get back less than you invested.

Where can we meet?

As much as possible we aim to meet at a mutually convenient location, be it your home, our office or somewhere in between. As we look after clients who are some distance from our office, to maximise our time usage, we may visit an area to do several home visits in one go.

How often will we meet?

We aim to meet our clients at least once a year but it can be on a more regular basis to suit your needs or if something has happened in your life that needs a more immediate conversation.

How do you charge for your services?

Our typical ongoing charge is less than 2% per annum, this charge includes:
  • Advice charge
  • Fund management charge
  • Dealing costs
  • IMA
  • St. James’s Place guarantee*

Charges do vary based on your tailored solutions, all of which are detailed during your appointments and before you proceed with any advice given, no charges are paid.

*St. James’s Place guarantees the suitability of the advice given by members of the St. James’s Place Partnership when recommending any of the wealth management products and services available from companies in the Group, more details of which are set out on the Group’s website at www.sjp.co.uk/products.

What locations do you cover?

Although our office is in the South East, we have clients based all over the UK, as far north as Edinburgh and as far south as Cornwall

Can I see my investments online?

Yes you can, we provide clients with log in details as part of the advice process.

Do I have to pay for my initial meeting?

Our initial meeting is no obligation

Why do I need an adviser?

Firstly, you need an adviser to ensure your funds work hard for you. Many people we meet do not have or want to spend the time managing their own investments, or do not have the knowledge to do so effectively.

Secondly, many of the advantages we create for clients involve tax processes that can be complex in nature. Our role is to simplify these, so you understand them and make sure you are maximising everything available to you within the framework provided by HMRC.

We are here to provide you with tailored solutions to your needs and aspirations, maximising all available benefits over and above simple investment returns. From our perspective it is about the value added through our relationship and the majority of our clients would agree on this.

The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up.  You may get back less than you invested.

The levels and bases of taxation, and reliefs from taxation, can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.
